Part 2: Gain some new perspective
Welcome back to Part 2 of your PowerSheets Prep Work! You are doing this!
In this video, Lara will guide you through pages 10-15 of the Prep Work, including your Cultivated Life Evaluation, identifying what did and didn’t work last year, naming the lies you’ve believed in the past, and more. Grab your PowerSheets, your favorite pen, and get ready to start fresh!
YOUR TURN! What’s something on your “Good Things” list? Comment below – we can’t wait to cheer you on!

Jumped ahead today because tomorrow is crazy- one of the things on my good things list is that I hiked over 250 miles in 2021 and it was one of the best choices for both physical and mental health
wow!! Life goals!!!!! Which hike was your favorite/which state was it in?
Amazing, Amanda!!
Thats wonderful!! Great job, Amanda! A huge accomplishment.
I’ve learned that slow days with my son can be the sweetest days we have.
I’ve also learned that traveling with my family can be hard but worth it.
We started family joy practices this year and they are transforming our household! I also got my first indoor plant and it has been a fun journey to keep it alive and care for it with the kiddos.
Ooh, please start what family joy practices are! I’d love to know.
They have been so simple and fun to implement. Many have come from the books The 4 Habits of Raising Joy-Filled Kids and The 4 Habits of Joy-Filled Marriages (and there are youversion reading plans too). My favorite lately has been giving memories names (attached) and reviewing my list often. My 7-year-old has a list too! Life Model Works is a great resource as well.
Yes! Love the marriage book!! I don’t have kids so haven’t read the other one.
Love hearing that! I’ve started including it with all wedding gifts! Such a sweet, practical resource.
This sounds amazing!
This year I learned that staying positive in the face of hard things, and proactively opening up about what I fear allows people to encourage me when I most need it.
Yay for this growth Krys! So important for us to utilize our support system <3 We aren’t meant to go through life alone.
2020 and 2021 were just tough years (health care family) but I can’t wait for 2022 it feels like I can breathe and dream again. Whoohooo! Looking forward…
Bullet journaling I think It’s my second year and I’m loving doing it. it has helped hugely with my organisation my friends and family I really made them a priority and it’s paid off big time.
That’s amazing Anita! I really enjoy seeing bullet journaling spreads and always want to do it. But in the end, I don’t even use the regular, pre-laid-out weekly planner I have lol.
Bullet journal work is so different and works. I’ve had five expensive planners in the last 4 years. But I’ve never stuck to anything like my bullet journal, even through major family crisis year of 2018! Don’t over think it if you want to do it. its very complementary to PS goal planner!
The last 2 years have been so challenging, being in isolated lockdown for months at a time, but I found Happy Planner this year and through that I have found Cultivate What Matters, so I can make 2022 the best year yet!
One good thing about 2021: the flexibility of my job and having a hybrid work environment: I was able to work from home most days. I’m so appreciative of that.
I’ve had a great year of travel and adventure, visiting Machu Picchu as well as Zion and Bryce NP here in the US. Maintaining my health and physical condition are important habits to support my travel goals!
Amy, I also visited Peru in August! It was a wonderful trip. I’m so glad we both got to have adventures in the midst of the Pandemic.
2021 was a huge year for me, because after YEARS of trying to be healthier I was finally able to do it! I have lost 30 pounds so far and I can’t wait to see what 2022 holds! <3
I made big steps in my career this year!
YAY Lily! Me too! Such a good feeling! What steps did you make?
Discovering pilates and finding movement/exercise that nurtures my body instead of depleting it 🙂
I’m almost done with reading the entire Bible in a year!
That’s significant! Did you create a plan to follow or use a guide?
That’s awesome Lauren! I started a plan for reading Bible in a year today!
I was kind of at a loss at first with “ what is your passion” I was thinking “pie in the sky” . But I think I have it now. I think you are asking more in relation to the coming year what are you passionate about making your goals for 2022? Is that right? I am totally new to this my first time. Janice
Rediscovering my joy of reading! I finished way more books this year than I thought possible at this point in my life.
Congrats, Audrey! What are you reading now? What’s on your list for this year?
I had my son in August this year. I had some limiting beliefs about my abilities as a mother but I am now confident and comfortable and proud to say I am his mom
Coming away from social media for a few stretches made room for creativity and being present.
Trips to the library! So fun to see kiddos getting into reading. Plus actually checking out stuff for myself for the first time in years.
I made an effort to start daughter’s 4th birthday/Thanksgiving/Christmas prep earlier this year so that I could get most of the tasks and planning out of the way so I could really enjoy this season. I also started having weekly lunch “business meetings” with my husband where we got to just talk and plan for these upcoming family times. I also went to therapy sessions this whole year!
Started my first year as a science teacher!
I quit breastfeeding this year. It has given me clarity and peace after 2.5 years of postpartum depression bogging me down, and because of this I was able to start mending friendships I thought were going to be lost forever.
Congratulations, Mika! So happy you’re starting to feel more like yourself now!
I got professional help for the first time ever to address my mental health and to begin stepping out of the fog and to live more intentionally.
Big congrats, Marquette (I love your name, btw). It’s a huge step on a lifelong journey. Know that you’re not traveling alone. <3
Something on my “good things” list was FOCUS. I finished grad school, finished my internship, passed my licensure exams, and made SO much progress towards some major goals. And it came at a cost… I spent most of my time and energy on that goal. It was not fun to sacrifice so many other things in the name of those goals, but that FOCUS did bring about a lot of success in achieving those 2021 goals. Major learning lesson from me since historically, I would choose fun and easy over hard, sacrificial focus. Side note, this part of the prep work is the hardest for me <3
I had a flexible schedule this past year, which taught me I have time and am able to make time for the things I want to do.
I did a lot of prep work over the summer just little by little and it has made this year so much easier- I am a teacher. For the first time in my career I don’t have to get to work early or stay late to get things done- I am also not really taking work home with me either.
So many good things! One of the easiest, but most impactful was spending time with my husband, but just sitting and soaking in each other’s presence – coming to him with no expectations. In the past we were spending a lot of time together – but not like this. This was life giving and brought our marriage back to the top priority after God. Writing this makes me smile 😁
Participating in virtual events- lead me to doing a conference based on faith and learned about lettering, taking me time, modifying workouts and accepting its okay to modify, finished homeschool preschool for my son, family time/
This year I learned taking two vacations really served me well, after taking none in 2020. We did one completely relaxing vacation, and one hard, but fun (Disney!) vacation, and we came back to work so mentally refreshed.
Thankful to finish this section. Ready for what’s next!
One of my good things for the year was making my mental health a priority and getting help for my anxiety.
One of my good things from the past year was letting go of the need for perfection and being persistent. I took risks and had the courage to change course when necessary without feeling like I had failed.
So many good things like giving my kids space to grow, hosting Christmas dinner, and bike rides!
I wrote, “Sigh. I’m not sure much worked in 2021 (or 2020). I’ll need to think/pray on this one.”
Buying a robe for myself – it helps me slow down, sip my tea, reflect, journal, just get still.
I stood on my integrity and took a major career risk for the sake of my marriage. I disabled my Twitter account for several months – I didn’t miss it at all! And I hit a bottom, of sorts. It’s helping me realize what I need to prune away, and what I need to focus on.
Loved reflecting over what worked and what didn’t. My challenges and what I was still able to accomplish part. Last year was one of the hardest years of my life – but this has helped point out all the good things that were shining through
Memorized 3 Psalms to counter the fear the culture continues to throw at us!
My family (my husband, me, our 2 year old) moved from California to Texas last March! Such a huge feat, since we had a lot of things on our to do list before we could make the move. I didn’t really keep up with my powersheets as much as I would have liked, but I’m giving myself Grace because moving to a new place is hard and settling into routines takes time. Looking forward to getting my life in order in 2022 🤣
de-cluttering days, making my phone “dumber”
Stepping away from a career that drained me.
Finding a job that invigorates me and replaced the income from the one I unexpectedly lost at the beginning of last year. Also saving enough this year that my husband felt comfortable enough to quit his job in a toxic environment so he can rediscover with fires him up and make a career shift.
I created a work schedule that gives me the flexibility I want!
This is my first leap into cultivating what matters. It’s been great doing these pages. A “Good Thing” I’d like to share is how much fun we had meeting some new people. One of my strengths is entertaining, so we had some great gatherings and I’m grateful for the connections.
Good things list- I joined a mentoring/mentee program at work, I had great sessions with the counselor, I got married!! And had a bomb wedding, we’ve started family traditions.
One of my good things from 2021 was taking part in a 31-day writing accountability class with fellow writers. And I accomplished my goal! Writing every single day during the month of October!
I may be naive, but what does “focal relationship” mean? Is that evaluating the relationships in your life?
I restarted hosting an event for entrepreneurs called “SideHustle Sundays”, It was in-person pre-pandemic and I tried to host a few more recently, but I made the decision to switch to virtual and it’s great! I can reach more people and invite folks from all over, instead of focusing on just my area!
In 2021 I applied and was not accepted to Graduate school. I persisted and took steps to improve my chances and I applied a SECOND time in the same year at the same school! I’m so glad I didn’t give up. I was admitted and I start my Masters degree in August.
One of my “Healthy” Goals was to lose 50 lbs in 2021, and then see if I needed to lose more. I…well…procrastinated until April, and then was inspired by reading somewhere, “What will you tell yourself in a year if you don’t start on this goal today?” That gave me the right mind-set to start the weight-loss journey for the many-th time in my life.
…
But THIS time, I started to lose weight; and continued to lose weight.
…
Today, I am 46 lbs lighter and will happily lose even more than the goal 50-lbs before April 2022! Praise God! I feel so much lighter…in body and spirit!
…
Now, 2022’s “Stream-Lined” Goal is to “lose” half of my accumulated possessions! Can’t wait to see where that leads me!
…
M <><.
One of the best things that happened was starting a group of ladies that has grown quite a bit. Friendships are created and it is so rewarding to see how they are reaching out to each other in times of hardships as well as celebration. Truly we are made for community and doing life together!
