This year already feels like the past. It’s time for a fresh start! I’ve use the planner for 2020 & 2021. I think I’ve learned to not overwhelm myself with too many goals per year. I think I’ll stick to 3-4 and if need be I can always go back and add more.

It worked well for me in 2021 to set 4 year-long goals, leaving space to have a few different quarterly goals as the year progressed. That made sense to my brain and left me not trying to go after too many things. And different seasons have different opportunities and need a different focus.

That’s so great! I love the idea of combining annual and quarterly goals. You’re right—the things that come up in seasons don’t have to be detractors from the long term work. Thanks so much for that!

This year wasn’t nearly as productive as I had hoped it would be and it seemed to vanish before my eyes! However, I am choosing to focus on what I DID accomplish and build on that for 2022!

Ooooh I am feeling a little discouraged thinking about the new year. I’m thankful for the progress I made in many ways big and small in 2021 but have learned how little I have control over and had some relationships fall apart over the past year from me setting boundaries that were important for my family. It all feels so overwhelming and I am thankful to take time this week to really pray and reflect on the new year.

It is so great to have the PowerSheets system, it really feels like an anchor for me, keeping me grounded and not spiralling away but still leaving space to dream! All the best to everyone xx

This is my second year doing this! Last year when I filled out these sheets I was skeptical that I would not need/want to do them again the next year I could just refer to the same pages. But I didn’t look back and I highly suggest others don’t look back. Just write from your heart/brain in its present state now. This was such a good start to my first week settled in my new home and my first week in my life of being officially done with school. I am excited for the new chapter ahead.

Totally agree, Karine! To answer authentically from where we are and who we are now versus last year! If I looked back, I would definitely find more things to add that weren’t top of my mind already so obviously, don’t need a place as one of the most important things moving forward <3

This year was so productive in some really big ways, so a lot of smaller things fell by the wayside. Buying a car and moving are goals that require a ton of time and I am so proud of myself for accomplishing those huge milestones. However, I am looking forward to getting back to some smaller, more habit type goals in 2022!

Ahhhhh! I’m so not ready why does life go so fast? I took last year off to try and get my life together and yes it’s less rocky than the end of last year but I’m still not as stable as I want to be. my mind is in shambles as is my life. mess everywhere and no way out.

One step at a time, Anita. It sounds trite, but it’s true. Start small! Tackle one tiny thing or mess and then move on from there.

Reply to  Emily Thomas

Beautiful reminder, Emily. My word for 2022 is “slowly” because in 2021 I tried to rush progress and move into the next chapter of my life and made a lot of mistakes trying to force progress to happen when I wanted it. In 2022, I want to get back to trusting the timing of my life, and God’s plan, letting things unravel slowly, as they intend to. Letting myself feel gratitude for where I am and what I have instead of the push I felt all of 2021 to be elsewhere, better, and have better/do better/ be better. That’s so much pressure to put on ourselves, it leads to disappointment. I hope a gentler, slower approach to progress in 2022 helps cultivate gratitude and the creation of a solid foundation for the future I hope you have one day.
Sending you love Anita and hoping you find some comfort in this idea of starting slowly, small, and not trying to change it all at once.

Feeling excited, but very anxious about this next year. So many things have happened this year–good and… not great. 2022 begins with supporting a parent through cancer treatment, as well as the end-stretch of preparing to give birth to my first baby at the end of Q1… a rollercoaster of emotions, to be sure.

Things that fire me up, most people would find weird.

  • Keyword Research
  • Parsing actionable insights from analytics or website tests.
  • Connecting rural high school and middle school girls to tech careers.
  • Planning & Bullet Journalling
  • Playing tabletop games with my husband and friends (mainly D&D and Pathfinder.)

I’m super geeky and that fires me up!

I was kind of at a loss at first with “ what is your passion” I was thinking “pie in the sky” . But I think I have it now. I think you are asking more in relation to the coming year what are you passionate about making your goals for 2022? Is that right? I am totally new to this my first time. Janice

I am so excited to be thinking 2022. It has been a rough year to even think goals, we have been dealing with a lot with the oldest generation of our family (both mine and my husband’s). A lot has been done with having to give up anything to do with ourselves. I am praying that God gives this year time to grow. I need it after this last year of feeling stuck and no time to myself.

2021 was a year of grief and survival. There was great beauty in the year and in the grief but I am definitely ready to turn the page and to start to figure out who this person is I see in the mirror after 2021 stripped away the fluff. I’m ready to discover passions, dream again, and move forward with creating our life and not just drifting.

Laura Bailey

Love this so much, Marquette! 2021 had a whole lot of unexpected grief, loss, and sadness for me, too. At one point, I felt so disconnected from my hopeful, future-looking self I usually am, there was just so much grief in the moment. Looking forward to 2022 being a time to dream again while building a solid foundation to move forward with since some of my foundation was shaken up with the losses. Wishing you so much luck and love that 2022 becomes all you hope it to be, full of dreaming, living, and intentional action forward. We are powerful, and there is beauty in those who have lived through heartbreak.

Laura Bailey
Laura Bailey

I am feeling BEYOND ready for a fresh new start and clean slate. Really looking forward to renewal and a revived energy to work towards what really matters in a smaller way. 2021 had a lot of unexpected grief and loss. All while trying so hard to make major goals happen. And some major progress did happen but at a cost. While looking so desperately towards the future I want, I made some mistakes (like losing gratitude for the present, overspending, and making some rash decisions trying to grow quicker than was reasonable.) I hope 2022 is a time to reacquaint myself with the slow living lifestyle I desire, to practice daily gratitude for where I am and what I have, to simplify my lifestyle, and to slowly build a solid foundation for the future I want instead of trying to rush and make it happen right now without a proper foundation under it. <3

I’m super excited for 2022. This year, was less than perfect (as life always is) but I didn’t get the opportunity to use my PowerSheets like I would’ve wanted to (or a planner) due to my family moving and just life itself. Ok this is my 6th year with Powersheets and I am always blown away that when I come to the prep work, new things, or a new twist on old things always seem to emerge!
I felt that all but one of my 2021 goals went really well (not perfectly, but great progress!) and I’m excited to work though and see how this year’s goals develop.
Lastly, I really enjoyed Lara’s encouragement to do something about one of the things that fire us up. MUSIC fires me up, especially choral music, so I closed my eyes, turned on Vivaldi’s “Gloria” and let myself listen on full blast in my earbuds. I feel so fired up now. Truly!
